The Exquisite Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus exquisitus) is a magnificently colored reef fish belonging to the family Labridae.

Distribution and Habitat

Indo-Pacific from East Africa to the western Pacific, frequenting coral-rich reefs and rubble slopes at depths of 6 to 40 meters.

Physical Description

Features a multi-colored body with orange, blue, and purple tones, accented with black and red fins and brilliant iridescent patterns.

Diet and Feeding

Carnivorous, feeds on zooplankton in the water column, readily accepting frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and micro-pellets in captivity.

Behavior and Reproduction

Plankton pickers that are peaceful toward tankmates. They are agile swimmers and prone to jumping when startled.

Aquarium Care

Requires 50+ gallons with a tight lid. It is reef-safe, peaceful, and thrives in established reef tanks with open swimming room.

Classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.
