Carpenter’s Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri) is an exceptionally colorful and captivating reef fish belonging to the family Labridae.

Distribution and Habitat

Found in the Indo-Pacific from the Philippines to Indonesia, frequenting outer reef slopes and soft coral gardens at moderate depths.

Physical Description

Features an orange-red body where males flash bright red and blue colors during courtship displays while raising long dorsal filaments.

Diet and Feeding

Carnivorous, feeds on zooplankton in the water column, readily accepting small frozen foods such as mysis, cyclops, and baby brine shrimp.

Behavior and Reproduction

A flasher wrasse where males perform dramatic flashing displays to attract females or establish dominance.

Aquarium Care

Requires 30+ gallons with a tight lid to prevent jumping. It is completely reef-safe, peaceful, and ideal for reef aquariums.
