Distribution and Habitat

Found in the Indian Ocean from East Africa to Sri Lanka, frequenting coral-rich reefs and rubble slopes.

Physical Description

Juveniles are brightly colored with orange and white bands, while adults develop an elegant green body decorated with vibrant blue spots and red accents.

Diet and Feeding

Carnivorous, feeds on crustaceans, mollusks, and worms, enthusiastically accepting hearty meaty foods in the aquarium.

Behavior and Reproduction

Protogynous hermaphrodites and large growing fish that bury in sand at night for protection.

Aquarium Care

Requires 180+ gallons with a deep sand bed. It is semi-aggressive and not reef-safe with small invertebrates.
