Distribution and Habitat

The Two Spot Hawkfish is found in the tropical Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions. It inhabits coral reefs and rocky substrates at moderate depths. It prefers areas with plenty of hiding spots and coral heads for perching.

Physical Description

The Two Spot Hawkfish reaches a maximum length of approximately 10 cm (3.9 in). It has a compact body with distinctive two dark spots on the body, one on the operculum and one near the pectoral fin. The coloration is generally light brown to reddish with darker markings.

Diet and Feeding

This species is an ambush predator that feeds on small crustaceans and fish. In captivity it accepts brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and prepared foods.
