Distribution and Habitat

Found in the tropical western Atlantic and Caribbean, commonly on rocky reefs and hard substrates.

Physical Description

Has a conical shell with a flat base, olive to brownish coloration with small ridges.

Diet and Feeding

Herbivorous, grazes on filamentous algae and diatoms, excellent at cleaning glass and live rock.

Behavior and Reproduction

Nocturnal but may be active during the day, does not reproduce in aquariums, can right itself if flipped.

Aquarium Care

Requires 10+ gallons per snail, reef-safe, cannot tolerate high nitrate levels or copper, needs established tank with algae growth.

Classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.
