Distribution and Habitat

Found throughout the Indo-Pacific on rocky reefs and hard substrates.

Physical Description

Top-shaped spiral shell, reddish-brown with white markings, thick and heavy shell.

Diet and Feeding

Herbivorous, grazes on filamentous algae, cyanobacteria and diatoms.

Behavior and Reproduction

One of the best algae eaters, can right itself if flipped, does not climb onto corals.

Aquarium Care

Requires 10+ gallons per snail, reef-safe, excellent glass and live rock cleaner, needs established tank with algae.

Conservation Status

Classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.
