The Cleaner Wrasse (Labroides bicolor), also known as the Bicolor Cleaner Wrasse, is a specialized marine cleaner fish belonging to the family Labridae.

Distribution and Habitat

Found in the Indo-Pacific from East Africa to the western Pacific, inhabiting lagoons and outer reef slopes.

Physical Description

Bicolor body with a dark front half and yellow rear half, with juveniles showing a black body with a glowing blue stripe.

Diet and Feeding

Feeds on parasites and dead tissue of larger fish, benefiting from frequent small feedings of nutritious frozen preparations in aquariums.

Behavior and Reproduction

Cleaner fish, runs cleaning stations where larger fish visit to be groomed of external pests.

Aquarium Care

Requires 30+ gallons, reef-safe, may starve in tanks without enough fish to clean, and should only be housed in mature aquariums.

Conservation Status

Classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List.
