Distribution and Habitat

The Tail Spot Blenny is found in the Western Pacific Ocean. It inhabits shallow coral reefs and rocky areas.

Physical Description

The Tail Spot Blenny is a small fish that grows to a size of 6 cm in length. It is a coppery-coloured fish with a distinct blackish spot at the base of the tail. It has some vibrant colors below the eye which can be made bright pink if threatened.

Diet and Feeding

The Tail Spot Blenny feeds primarily on algae and detritus. In captivity it accepts a varied diet including spirulina, marine algae, and frozen preparations.

Behavior and Reproduction

This species is peaceful and generally reef-safe.

Aquarium Care

It is an excellent choice for nano reef tanks due to its small size. It requires a tank of at least 10 gallons with abundant live rock for grazing and hiding.
